Ree Drummond’s son Jamar Goff has been sentenced after his September arrest.
Alabama court documents obtained by Page Six on Wednesday, November 4, indicate that Goff, 23, received a 48-month suspended sentence for second degree assault. He also received a 24-month suspended sentence for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Goff was also placed on 12 months of supervised probation and has been ordered to complete a substance abuse evaluation and random drug testing.
In a release order filed on Tuesday, November 3, a judge ordered Goff to be released from custody and banned from the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus, per the outlet. Officials have “no problem” with the probation being transferred to Oklahoma, according to the court records.
News broke in September that Goff was booked into Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham, Alabama, on four charges, including unlawful possession of a controlled substance, aggravated assault on a police officer, drug paraphernalia for use or possession and attempting to elude an officer.
Court documents obtained by Us at the time indicated that an officer received a call about a suspicious person on the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus, who allegedly found Goff sleeping near a fountain without a shirt.
Officers awoke Goff and asked him what he was doing on campus. Goff then allegedly claimed he was waiting to meet someone to sell him “ice,” another name for methamphetamine.
When the officer learned Goff had a warrant out for his arrest, he allegedly began running and ended up at a local hospital where he “used an open-handed palm strike” on an officer, court documents allege.
Ree, 57, and husband Ladd Drummond became foster parents to Goff in 2018 when he was a teenager. The pair are also parents to four other children.
“We have a foster son now. His name is Jamar. I haven’t written or spoken publicly about him much, because for one thing, the state agency that handles fostering has strict rules against posting about foster children on social media, which I get,” Ree wrote for The Pioneer Woman in 2020, adding that she has decided to write about Goff anyway.
She continued, “I’m now writing about Jamar because after a year-and-a-half of living in our house, he is an inextricable part of our wacky family, and it’s become increasingly strange for me not to talk about him.”
