Actor Robert Vaughn, best known for his role as Napoleon Solo on the 1960s TV series The Man From U.N.C.L.E., passed away on Friday, November 11. The cause was acute leukemia, his manager confirmed to Deadline. He was 83.
“Mr. Vaughn passed away with his family around him,” Vaughn’s manager, Matthew Sullivan, told the site. The actor is survived by his wife, Linda, and son Cassidy and daughter Caitlin.
Vaughn starred on The Man From U.N.C.L.E. from 1964 to 1968, after being nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor for his role in 1959’s The Young Philadelphians.
In 1998, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actor requested that his star be located near the corner of Hollywood and Cherokee, close to where he and his mother lived when they first moved to Los Angeles.
The Golden Globe winner, who also starred in The Magnificent Seven, most recently portrayed con man Albert Stroller on British TV series Hustle until 2012.
Vaughn also appeared on Law & Order and filmed The American Side and Gold Star within the past year.
