Wondering what Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s daughter looks like? Well, according to the Self/less star, baby James is just like her dad!
“Baby looks like me,” Reynolds told Extra’s AJ Calloway during an interview on Tuesday, July 7. “I’m not saying that like any kind of gloating,” he added, before getting scientific. “I’ve heard, like, there is a sort of genetic predisposition like an evolutionary tactic to make sure the father stays,” he laughed. “I’m staying, I don’t need that.”
In a separate interview on Tuesday, Blake Lively’s husband, 38, addressed some controversy over a recent photo of him with James. The actor, who said being a dad is the “best job” he’s ever had, was blasted after Lively, 27, posted a Father’s Day Instagram of him holding their 6-month-old daughter improperly in a Líllébaby baby carrier last month.
“The baby is not properly secured in the vessel that I’m wearing there,” Reynolds acknowledged earlier in the day while chatting with Matt Lauer on the Today show. “I’m a first-time dad and that is not the first mistake I’ve made and I can guarantee it won’t be the last.”
The star has, however, mastered toting his daughter around. “I had never used that particular carrier before so every other time it’s been perfect,” he explained of the faux pas that upset followers.
The Green Lantern hunk has been busy promoting his new flick, but is eager and excited to get back to James and Lively, who have been living in Bangkok. “I’m incredibly grateful and lucky to have the job that I have, to be totally frank and serious. I don’t take it for granted for a second,” he told AOL Build during the press day. “We have long hours, but we also get breaks, unlike most people who get one week off a year — I might have three months off. I really cherish that, especially having a daughter. Those three months used to drive me insane, when I was a young buck, single and carefree. Now I just want to be with my daughter.”
“When I wrapped Deadpool five weeks ago, within an hour — I’m not joking, I still had chunks of glue from the scar makeup on my face — I was boarding a plane to Bangkok so I could get to my wife and baby right away,” he continued. “I’ll do anything to be with them.”
