Miguel is speaking out after his family allegedly received an onslaught of “abusive” attacks.
“Over the past year, my family and the people I love have been subjected to racism, harassment, stalking, invasions of privacy and false allegations,” Miguel, 40, wrote via Instagram on Friday, August 28, alleging that his girlfriend, Margaret Zhang, has received multiple “racist and anti-Asian attacks” via social media comments and her DMs.
Miguel and Zhang, 33, have been together since late 2022 following his divorce from ex-wife Nazanin Mandi. The “Adorn” singer announced in September 2025 that he and Zhang had quietly welcomed their first child together one year earlier. (Miguel and the former Vogue China editor have not publicly shared their child’s name or sex.)
Miguel claimed there have also been “abusive comments” about their child.
“Recent racist and anti-Asian attacks directed at my partner — including comments and DMs, as well as abusive comments about my child — crossed a line that should require no explanation,” he wrote. “People can have opinions about me, about the music [and] about the work. I accept the realities that come with doing anything in public, but racism, threats, harassment, stalking, invasions of privacy and targeting of children are abuse. Not opinion.”
Miguel continued, “It doesn’t become acceptable because someone dresses it up as criticism, fandom, speculation, or ‘concern.’ Responsibility also lies with organizations and individuals that knowingly amplify or enable racism, harassment or false allegations for attention and engagement. If you participate in this behavior, you are not supporting me [and] you are not part of this community.”
Miguel stressed that “action has been” taken and “will continue to be taken” after his “legal and ethical” boundaries were apparently crossed.
“To everyone who has treated my family with kindness, dignity and respect: we see you. We deeply appreciate you,” he concluded.
Zhang reposted Miguel’s statement onto her Instagram Stories that same day.
Hours later, Miguel shared footage of himself in a dark room via his Instagram Stories and offered a glimpse into his current mindset.
“Whatever you do, don’t let them take your joy,” he quipped, looking directly at the camera. “Love you.”
The artist has since received support in the comments section from his famous friends.
“Glad u spoke about this frfr [for real for real] def a lot of hurtful things on the web,” singer Jozzy replied on Thursday. “[I] always wondered if it fazed u when u read it 🙏🏾🙏🏾. Protect ya family.”
Entrepreneur Patty Rodriguez added, “Miguel, sending you and your family a big hug ❤️.”
Miguel and Zhang have remained relatively private about their relationship. He was previously married to Mandi, 39, from 2018 to 2022 after 13 years of dating.
