Battle of the coasts! Stars like Jon Hamm, Kate Bosworth, and Will Ferrell gathered at the Staples Center Wednesday, June 4, to watch the New York Rangers play the Los Angeles Kings for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. An observer gives Us Weekly the details on stars present for the action.
Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish
“Kate and Michael mostly kept to themselves,” the eyewitness said of the husband and wife. The actress wore a loose white T-shirt underneath a pair of vintage denim overalls for the game.
Ellen Page, Catherine Keener, and Spike Jonze
The Juno star was joined by Catherine Keener and Spike Jonze at the sporting event. “Apparently Ellen is a huge hockey fan,” the observer noted. “[She] loves the Kings and she’s been frequently coming to games the past few years.” During the series’ opener, Page and Jonze held hands and she leaned on his shoulder. “They also took a selfie and sent it to someone,” the insider noted. “Ellen swapped her cap for a Kings Stanley Cup cap for the pic.”
Jon Hamm
Hockey buff Hamm was running late for the game, but made it to the Staples Center (where some other celebs were seated) just in time for the third period. “He was energetic and in a great mood!” the observer noted. The St. Louis native is clearly knowledgeable about the sport, too! He cheered when Rangers forward Brian Boyle took a penalty.
Other noteworthy Kings fans at Game 1 included Ferrell, Matthew Perry, Eric Stonestreet, Larry David, David Boreanaz (normally a Flyers fan), Steve Carell (an avid Bruins supporter), CW stars Stephen Amell and Michael Rosenbaum, as well as the Old Spice guy Isaiah Mustafa. Big Kings fans who weren’t at the game include Chace Crawford, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Alyssa Milano.
Rangers fans present at the game were Jim Carrey and Kevin Connolly. Other noteworthy fans of the team, though not present at Game 1, include Kate Upton, Margot Robbie, Olivia Palermo, and Robert De Niro.
