If you’ve got it, flaunt it! Taylor Swift’s whirlwind 1989 world tour may have ended before the start of the new year, but the pop star’s bank account just keeps growing.
Swift, 26, tops Parade magazine's annual "What People Earn" issue's list of stars, besting the likes of other A-list heavyweights, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Jay Z.
The “Wildest Dream” singer made an estimated $80 million this past year, what with her sold-out world tour and numerous business deals (a partnership with Apple and a contract with Coca-Cola, for instance). The pop star even has her own mobile game in the works, to launch later this year.
Add to that her three Grammy Awards (for Best Music Video, Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year), and it’s clear that Swift has had a landmark year. (Her cute PDA with boyfriend Calvin Harris doesn’t hurt either!)
Fellow songstress Lady Gaga also commanded an impressive paycheck this past year, with an estimated $59 million in the bank. The “Applause” singer, 30, had the honor of performing back-to-back-to-back at the Super Bowl, the Grammy Awards and the Oscars earlier this year. Additionally, the multihyphenate performer had a starring role on FX’s hit American Horror Story: Hotel.
Jay Z raked in a still-impressive $56 million in a year full of various business ventures (but no album), including his streaming service, Tidal, which has provided a platform for such artists as Kanye West and Rihanna.
By contrast, DiCaprio, 41, made an estimated $29 million in what many consider a linchpin year for the storied actor, who won his first Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role in The Revenant.
