Teddi Mellencamp is clarifying why Kyle Richards sued her sister Kim Richards for eviction last year.
“The actual truth is, yes, they did say, ‘You need to get help if you want us to keep paying for you,’” Mellencamp, 44, said on the Wednesday, April 15, episode of her “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast. “It’s a house that she bought for Kim. … I think Kyle supports Kim financially.”
News broke on Saturday, April 11, that Kyle, 57, named Kim, 61, in a January 2025 lawsuit, requesting the court to evict Kim from Kyle’s Encino, California, condo. Kyle alleged that Kim had lived in the property for years and was first asked to leave in late 2024.
TMZ reported on Saturday that Kim never responded to the suit and a default judgment was entered in March 2025, which required Kim to surrender possession of the property. She eventually moved out of Kyle’s property before June 2025.
Neither Kyle nor Kim publicly addressed the legal battle. Us Weekly reached out for comment at the time.
According to Mellencamp, Kyle frequently supports her sister amid Kim’s ongoing substance abuse issues.
“Kyle has a good heart and will always end up saying yes [to help her sister], but this is from a really long time ago,” Mellencamp said. “It’s not even where she lives now. It’s not even the same location. … Kim is no longer in that house.”
Mellencamp further offered an update on Kim’s health.
“I think Kim, since then, has gotten better,” she added on Wednesday. “I mean, Kim is still well taken care of, like, come on.”
Kyle and Kim’s older sister, Kathy Hilton, previously told Us that Kim was recovering.
“Kim and I have never had issues or anything,” Kathy, 67, exclusively told Us in October 2024. “She is going through a tough time and she’s doing better now.”
Months later, Kathy revealed at the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 reunion in April 2025 that Kim was living in Florida and “doing better.”
“[Kim is] doing better than the last time,” Kyle added.
Kim last appeared on RHOBH in 2023, discussing Kyle’s then-feud with Kathy.
“I do believe — I’m going to get emotional — life is just too short to fight,” Kim told Kyle at the time. “It just is not worth it. It bothers me. I want you guys to fix it somehow. [Life] can be so short.”
