A major Teen Mom 2 makeover! Kailyn Lowry debuted an unexpected 'do on Instagram on Monday, April 4.
Trading in her signature long, mermaid-esque tresses for bright blonde dreadlocks, the Pride Over Pity author, 24, showed off her new hairstyle to her 2.2 million followers with an uncaptioned selfie.
Lowry’s updated look quickly caused a stir on social media, igniting impassioned fan opinions, both negative and positive. “Lol what did she do!!!! Trying to be Jamaican!!!” wrote one unimpressed follower, while another simply noted: “Ew wtf.”
However, the MTV personality’s daring coiffure was met with tons of praise as well. She retweeted a string of complimentary reactions on Twitter.

To the haters who took aim at Lowry’s hair, the mom of Isaac, 6, and Lincoln, 2, simply responded by saying, “People don’t like change.”

This isn’t the first time Lowry has altered her appearance. As Us Weekly previously reported, the reality star underwent extensive plastic surgery in January to help transform her body.
The Delaware resident's plastic surgeon, Michael Salzhauer, a.k.a. Dr. Miami, posted gruesome before-and-after photos of Lowry completely naked on an operating table, next to a bloody towel. She reportedly underwent liposuction, a tummy tuck and a butt lift.
Lowry’s husband, Javi Marroquin, stood up for his wife’s decision to go under the knife, tweeting on January 19: “Whatever is going to make her happy, then I ride with her. Feel better babe.”
