Teen Mom 2’s Kailyn Lowry responded to rumors that she is in a same-sex relationship with her lesbian pal Becky Hayter in a new interview with RealMRHousewife.com.
“Becky and I are just friends. That’s it,” the MTV personality, 24, told the site on Tuesday, July 5. “We are not in a romantic relationship at all.”
Fans began speculating that Lowry and Hayter were an item on June 5, when the 16 & Pregnant alum Instagrammed a picture of the two embracing each other at a Pride event in Asbury Park, New Jersey. “Girlfriend status,” Lowry captioned the snapshot.
Despite their playful photo, Lowry insisted to RealMRHousewife that her relationship with Hayter is purely platonic.
“Again, Becky is just a friend of mine. There’s nothing more to it,” the Pride Over Pity author added. “In fact, Becky is talking to someone else she’s interested in.”
For her part, Lowry is currently living the single life. On May 24, the reality star announced that she and husband Javi Marroquin are getting a divorce. “We’re trying to do the best we can for our kids because they are what really matters,” she told The Daily Mail at the time. The estranged couple are parents to son Lincoln, 2. Lowry also shares son Isaac, 6, with ex Jo Rivera.
On the June 20 reunion episode of Teen Mom 2, Marroquin, 23, revealed that he does not want to permanently part ways with his wife. “She knows I want my family together more than anything in this world," he said. "I wake up every two hours hoping I have a text from her — she knows that."
However, Lowry is more than ready to pull the plug on their nearly three-year marriage. "As of right now, no, [I don't want to be in this marriage]," she explained on the reunion special. "I don't feel like we're on the same page. I don't think we have the same goals and views … He's saying it too late. You wanna change when it's too late."
