A source close to Perry tells Us Weekly that the actor, writer and producer, a close friend of the Brown family, is currently at Bobbi Kristina's bedside and lending his support as the 21-year-old daughter of Brown and the late Whitney Houston remains in critical condition in the North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Ga.
"Tyler was absolutely shocked by the news," the source tells Us. "He heard the news and immediately offered Bobby Brown a flight in his private jet, which is why they arrived at the hospital together."
Brown took the private jet from L.A. to Atlanta on Saturday, Jan. 31, to rush to his daughter's bedside. Another insider tells Us that Perry was already bound for Atlanta. "He called Bobby immediately and offered to take him," the source tells Us.
As previously confirmed to Us by the Roswell Police Department, Houston's daughter was found facedown in the bathtub in her home on Saturday, Jan. 31. "I can’t comment on her condition because of medical privacy laws," police spokesperson Lisa Holland told Us on Sunday. "I know she is alive and the only thing they would notify me of is if her condition changed."
In the wake of the situation, the source tells Us that Perry, 45, has felt "terrible" and is doing what he can to offer support to the family. "He's been working on being a good father himself and I know he feels terrible about this situation," the source tells Us. "He's canceling his meetings and calls to be with them." (Perry and his model girlfriend Gelila Bekele welcomed their first child together, son Aman, last November.)
Perry has previously spoken highly about Houston and Brown's daughter, even casting her to act in his TBS series For Better Or Worse back in 2012. "That kid has a such a future. She's such an actor," Perry told THR that same year of Bobbi Kristina. "I'm so proud of her. I'm telling you, as far as she wants to go in the business, she can."
While their professional relationship tapered off, Perry has always felt a connection to the music industry scion. "He reached out to Bobbi a few times and they talked, but she was very much living her own life," the source tells Us. "He offered her gigs on his shows, where he would have had a closer look at her day to day but she wanted to be with her husband."
Holland previously told Us that Brown's husband Nick Gordon was performing CPR when police arrived Saturday, after a 911 call was made at 10:20 a.m. by a friend named Max. Brown was taken to Fulton hospital, where TMZ has reported that she has been placed in a medically induced coma.
According to police, "there were no drugs out in the open" or anything indicating that something "out of the ordinary happened." Still, authorities continue to investigate the circumstances.
Bobby Brown, meanwhile, released a statement, saying: "Privacy is requested in this matter. Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time."
