Ono, 82, was discussing the notion of sexual fluidity and shared that she and Lennon — who was fatally shot outside of his NYC apartment in 1980 — had conversations about their sexual preferences.

“John and I had a big talk about it, saying, basically, all of us must be bisexual,” she told the Daily Beast. “And we were sort of in a situation of thinking that we’re not [bisexual] because of society. So we are hiding the other side of ourselves, which is less acceptable. But I don’t have a strong sexual desire towards another woman.”

In fact, Ono described her sexuality as “extremely old-fashioned” to the outlet. “Many people think I’m a strong woman. I never thought that, but probably I am,” she dished. “Maybe they think I really don’t go for men, but it’s not true. I like normal relationships… whatever ‘a normal relationship’ is.”

Ono also took it a step further and addressed rumors that Lennon, with whom she had son Sean Lennon, had slept with Beatles manager Brian Epstein while the two were on a vacation together back in 1963. The subject, in fact, prompted the 1991 movie The Hours and Times.

Ono, however, maintained that Lennon did not have sex with Epstein. “I think he had a desire to [have sex with other men], but I think he was too inhibited,” she shared. “No, not inhibited. He said, ‘I don’t mind if there’s an incredibly attractive guy.’ It’s very difficult: They would have to be not just physically attractive, but mentally very advanced too. And you can’t find people like that.”

During her buzzed-about interview, Ono also addressed Lennon’s murderer, Mark David Chapman, who was denied parole for the eighth time last year. “One thing I think is that he did it once, he could do it again, to somebody else — you know. It could be me, it could be Sean, it could be anybody, so there is that concern,” she shared.
