Though High School Musical hunk Zac Efron has been relatively tight-lipped about his secret stint in rehab in spring 2013, the 26-year-old did open up on a Jan. 21 appearance on the Today Show where he was promoting his new film That Awkward Moment.
After several questions about the bromantic comedy, anchor Savannah Guthrie asked Efron about his time in rehab.
"I'm in the best place that I've ever been in," the former Disney star replied. "I've never been this happy before. I'm extraordinarily grateful for these guys and to be here promoting this movie. Things are good. Thank you for asking."
Efron, who stars and is also an executive producer for That Awkward Moment, appeared genuinely positive and at ease throughout the interview.
In December, he was spotted sitting courtside at an L.A. Lakers game wearing a blue AA chip that represents six months of sobriety.
"He's had to go from being a party boy to being completely sober," an Efron pal told Us weekly after news broke in September 2013 of Efron's spring 2013 rehab stay. "It's going to take time, but he's handling it well."
