Totally unfiltered! Sister Wives star Gwendlyn Brown isn’t holding back when it comes to her true feelings about the TLC series or her extended family. The TV personality, who is one of Christine and Kody Brown’s six children, has been vocal about the show and her parents’ dynamic since they announced their split in November 2021. Christine confirmed via Instagram at the time that she and the Wyoming native had separated after more than 25 years together. The Cooking With Just Christine star spiritually married Kody in 1994. The pair then welcomed six kids: Aspen, Mykelti, Paedon, Gwendlyn, Ysabel and Truely. Following their public breakup, Christine moved away from her former spouse in Arizona and closer to her own parents in Utah. Many of the pair’s children also live in the area. “I’m on each of their sides as each of them are talking about it. Not that I should be choosing sides, because these are my parents,” Gwendlyn said in a December 2022 episode of her YouTube vlog when speaking about her mom and dad. “I was like, ‘You’re leaving? Good for you!’ She told me she was moving and divorcing my father all at the same time, so I was all hype for her,” Since Kody and Christine parted ways in 2021, two out of Kody’s three other marriages have also ended. The couple legally wed in 2014 after the polygamist divorced Meri. The choice also allowed Kody to legally adopt Robyn’s three children from a prior relationship. Trolling Her Dad

Gwendlyn trolled her father in February 2022 when she revealed via her Instagram Story what happened when she typed “Kody Brown” into her Google search bar. The answer: “Christine Brown’s ex-husband.”

The former couple’s daughter shared the screenshot result, adding, “I’m deadass [serious] when I tell you this is what comes up when you Google my father.”

Celebrating Her ‘Leftover Fame’

“When your parents get divorced and you get their leftover fame,” the reality star joked via her Instagram Story in December 2022. Gwendlyn shared a photo of her Instagram profile which featured a blue checkmark next to her name. “Verified bitches.”

How She Really Feels About Robyn

“I don’t really like her as a person,” Gwendlyn said in a December 2022 vlog of Kody’s sole legal spouse. “Watching her [on Sister Wives] makes me like her less, for sure.”

Shutting Down ‘Horrifying’ Rumors About Kody

Gwendlyn came to her father’s aid in January 2023 after rumors surfaced that he and his adopted daughter Aurora had an inappropriate relationship. (Aurora is from Robyn's first marriage to David Jessop. The exes also share son Dayton and daughter Breanna.)

“No, my father does not kiss his children like that,” she said after a fan brought up a photo via social media that looked like Kody was “making out” with Robyn’s eldest daughter. “Obviously, as kids we give him a little smooch because we’re children, but no, not at all. I’m so sorry you were tricked into thinking that. That’s horrifying.”

Inside Christine and Janelle’s Bond

“I think we should have a spinoff series where Janelle and my mom get together, Gwendlyn said during a January 2023 video, joking that the women should take their close friendship a step further. “Tell me you don’t love that idea.”

Later that month, the Arizona resident gushed over how much Janelle has changed with the help of Christine following their respective splits.

“I think that she was encouraged by my mom who has also since the first season become a lot more empowered,” Gwendlyn explained. “And they just seem to have encouraged each other to be more strong and independent and confident in themselves.”

Who ‘Dislikes’ Kody More?

Christine’s daughter revealed via a January 2023 vlog that Kody’s season 17 claims that his ex-wife poisoned the kids against his was false. "That's not true. We were the ones who convinced my mom, or not really convinced her, but we probably dislike our father more than she does," Gwendlyn said of herself and her siblings.

The young star also claimed Christine was not responsible for Kody’s strained relationship with some of his children.

"It's not fair for him to blame it on my mom when he's the one that's not showing up. I probably am the worst one in the situation because I complained all the time about how my dad hadn't shown up ... it's definitely not my mom,” she continued. “It was most likely, if anyone was feeding information to her, it was probably me."

Gwendlyn added: "I was probably the most verbal about him not being active in our lives. So if anybody's to blame, it's actually him, but if anybody's to blame about talking about it, it's also probably him but a little bit me."

How Kody Changed

In a February 2023 YouTube vlog, Gwendlyn hinted at how her dad "changed" over the years. "The reason I think he started changing is because his kids used to be young and easily manipulated and I think he found it easier to talk to them [back then]. We weren't as opinionated," she claimed. "Now, we're adults and we have our opinions. We have our adult thoughts and we have things we do as adults, and I think he just found it easier to talk to [us] when we weren't as opinionated."

Calling Kody Out

Gwendlyn called her dad out for being “manipulative” while rewatching a season 17 episode of Sister Wives in a February 2023 YouTube video. During the episode, Kody stated that he no longer cared about his relationship with Meri after she expressed hope of repairing their connection. ​The moment led Gwendlyn to question the reasoning behind all of her father’s relationships, as she stated, “Does he consider them trophies? Does he consider them his path into heaven? I don't understand why he feels the humungous necessity to be with them still. And I'm just glad that ones that needed to get out of that situation, have gotten out of that situation."

Feeling Unseen

In a February 2023 YouTube recap of a season 17 episode of Sister Wives, Gwedlyn opened up about the difficulties of seeing Kody be an “active” parent with Robyn’s children — and not feeling she received that same attention. 

"I know that I should be happy for them, but seeing him be an active father with these kids really hurts. It sucks to not be able to see them," she shared. "It's terrible that I'm making this about myself, but it hurts so much to see him be a good father to others when I didn't really get that much. I know I should be happy for them and I am. I'm so happy they have a good father, or what looks like to be a good father and an active father. But I just didn't get that, and I don't remember that. 

The Arizona resident said she doesn’t “remember coming home from kindergarten and seeing my dad being happy that I ate all my lunch” or that she “made a friend” while at school, noting that it was her mom, Christine, who was there to support her. 

"And that's great. I'm so happy I had her, but it was never my dad," she continued. "And it sucks that he was not there so much. But I'm happy for them. I'm really happy they get that and they deserve that. They are sweet and wonderful siblings who deserve the most loving, kindest father in the whole world, and they will always deserve that. And I'm just glad that they can have that — even when I can't."

Seeing Her Siblings

  In a March 2023 YouTube vlog, Gwendlyn opened up about her relationship — or lack thereof — with Robyn and Kody's children. "I do still live in Flagstaff and I don't see any of my siblings on Robyn's side," she said. "I invited them to my engagement party, but I don't know if she felt [like] it wouldn't be a safe space for them or they just decided they didn't want to go." 

Gwendlyn, who has been outspoken about where she stands with Robyn, added: "I mean, [it] hurts my feelings obviously, but if I'm not a safe person for them, then I'm not a safe person for them. I do miss them completely, so much. I see all of the older kids every time that they're in town. We'll visit."

'A Little Cowardly'

During a March 2023 YouTube video, Gwendlyn reacted to Kody saying he was a “little cowardly” but "didn't quit" in his marriage with Christine on a season 17 episode of Sister Wives.

"I think it's more cowardly to be in a relationship where you don't love somebody than it is to leave instead of experiencing heartbreak," she replied.

Gwendlyn also took issue with her father saying Christine shouldn’t express her desire for independence. “What's she supposed to do if she's not independent? He has three other wives. What's she supposed to do? Just sit in the corner and braid her hair?" she quipped.

When a social media user commented that Kody was a “massive misogynist,” Gwendlyn responded, saying she’s “glad” it’s not “something I inherited because that would suck.”

She continued: “I think the way he was raised made it difficult for him to get out of those ideas — which is not an excuse. You can get out of the kind of thoughts that you think. Dad's opinions and thoughts tend to benefit him, I think, so that's why I assume he chooses to think that way."
