Death of a Pastor’s Wife breaks down Mica Miller’s suicide after she reported to police that she had been a victim of stalking. However, the three-part Netflix docuseries also sheds light into her life before she died.
While her marriage to husband John-Paul Miller played a major role in the aftermath of her death, Mica previously became a wife for the first time when she married her first husband, Jeremy Deas, at the age of 18.
Everything to know about Mica’s marriages to Deas and John-Paul, below.
Inside Mica Miller’s 1st Marriage to Jeremy Deas
Mica was just 18 years old when she married Deas on September 29, 2012.
Both Deas and Mica attended Solid Rock Church, where John-Paul served as a pastor. In fact, John-Paul officiated their wedding.
Deas was actively involved in Solid Rock Church’s sports ministry and was reportedly close friends with John-Paul, according to FITSNews.
During her marriage to Deas, Mica began an affair with John-Paul. They then decided they wanted to be together, so Mica filed for divorce from Deas and John-Paul filed for divorce from his first wife, Alison Williams, in 2016.
Not much is known about Mica and Deas’ marriage, and he did not appear in Death of a Pastor’s Wife to share his side of the story.
Inside Mica Miller and John-Paul Miller’s Marriage
John-Paul and Mica met at Solid Rock Church when she was a teenager, and their relationship turned romantic when she was 20 years old in 2015. Once their respective divorces were finalized, they wed in November 2017.
Mica’s family was skeptical of the relationship due to their 15-year age difference.
Her father told The Sun News in June 2024 that the family had told Mica it was “very unwise” to be with John-Paul, but they dealt with the relationship in order to stay in contact with her.
“When it’s your sibling, you support them and you just voice your concerns,” Mica’s sister Sierra Francis told the outlet at the time. “But the only way that we could maintain a relationship with her is if we kind of push our differences to the side.”
The couple ultimately split, and Mica filed for divorce in February 2024. However, their divorce was never finalized, as she died in April 2024.
Inside Mica Miller’s Death and Stalking Case
Mica died at the age of 30 in April 2024. While her death was initially ruled a suicide, police launched an investigation into the matter due to her past claims that she had been the victim of stalking in the months leading up to her death.
Authorities have maintained that she died by suicide, but John-Paul was arrested in November 2024 after they gathered evidence that indicated he had cyberstalked Mica from November 2022 until her death. Authorities also determined he had lied to investigators while he was being interviewed about her death.
He was charged with cyberstalking and making false statements to federal investigators.
John-Paul has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently out of jail after posting bond. His case remains ongoing, and he is scheduled to go to court in October 2026.
