A police pursuit in Texas had a horrific ending as two people died in an apparent murder-suicide.

Officers with the Burleson Police Department responded to the scene on Thursday, October 29, around 7:45 a.m. after they received reports of an armed man in the 700 block of W. Hidden Creek Parkway.

Burleson Police Chief Billy Cordell said the individuals involved in the incident were an estranged married couple that lived in the Burleson area, according to CBS News. Based on preliminary information, authorities determined that the couple were separated at the time of the incident and the husband previously moved out of the residence.

The incident began when the woman, who has been identified as Biana Elizabeth Ramirez, was returning home after she dropped their 9-year-old child off at school.

Witnesses told police that the man was seen outside with Ramirez, 34, before he allegedly forced her into a vehicle in the parking lot.

Ramirez then called 911, but did not speak. However, Cordell said she was able to leave the phone on while inside of the car.

The suspect then drove himself and Ramirez away from the area and they traveled south on SH 174 at Wilshire Boulevard. It was in that area that police officers began a pursuit after the driver failed to stop.

The chase continued toward Chisholm Trail Parkway as the man drove up to 100 mph. Police deployed spike strips along Highway 377 during the pursuit, and they successfully struck both wheels on the passenger side of the vehicle.

“Despite the damage, the suspect kept driving,” Cordell said. “The pursuit eventually ended near Bourland Field Airport in Cresson.”

The pursuit lasted approximately 34 minutes as authorities chased the vehicle for about 25 miles.

The vehicle eventually stopped, and the man and Ramirez were found dead inside from apparent gunshot wounds. Cordell stated that no shots were fired by law enforcement.

“Two school-age children have both lost their parents,” Cordell said of the incident. “It’s a heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this devastating loss.”

Cordell confirmed that the couple did not have a known history of domestic violence, and police had never been called to their home.

“As we know, domestic violence is underreported,” Cordell said. “That doesn’t mean that there wasn’t violence, it’s just not reported.”

The Burleson Police Department told Us that they have no additional updates to share in the case as of time of publication.
