Shortly after Taylor Parker killed her pregnant friend Reagan Simmons-Hancock and performed a C-section to steal her unborn child, she tried to convince law enforcement that she had given birth to the baby girl in newly released bodycam footage.
In the footage obtained by TMZ on Tuesday, June 30, officers told Parker, 33, that they knew she was involved in Simmons-Hancock’s murder and they were past the “nonsense” of her claims that she was innocent.
Parker appeared visibly distressed as she repeatedly told law enforcement that she had just given birth while pulled over on the side of the road. However, the police officers made it clear they didn’t believe her story and said “we know you did it.”
“There’s no doubt, whatsoever,” one officer told Parker.
Parker eventually came clean and burst into tears as she explained she was upset that Simmons-Hancock was dead and her “head’s been hurting.” She also told authorities that she had a stroke in 2015.
She then admitted she was at Simmons-Hancock’s home at the time of the murder and remembered “pulling up” to her house. Parker said that Simmons-Hancock, 21, confronted her about lying that she was pregnant. “We both hit each other,” she added of their physical altercation.
Parker killed Simmons-Hancock while she was pretending to be pregnant with her then-boyfriend Wade Griffin’s child. The October 2020 murder took place after Griffin’s family grew suspicious about Parker’s pregnancy as her September 2020 due date came and went.
Shortly after the interrogation, Parker was arrested in connection to the death of Simmons-Hancock and her daughter, Braxlynn Sage.
Her case went to trial in 2022, and she was found guilty of capital murder and kidnapping. Parker was sentenced to death and is currently the youngest woman in Texas on death row as she awaits her execution.
While Parker’s trial concluded nearly four years ago, the crimes have recently re-entered the spotlight after the case was featured in Netflix’s June documentary Maternal Instinct.
Following the documentary’s release, McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma – where Parker’s interrogation took place – issued a statement asking Netflix fans to not visit the hospital.
“While the events portrayed were real and remain a matter of public record, they also represent one of the most painful chapters in the lives of the victim’s family, the New Boston community, and the healthcare professionals who responded that day,” a rep for the hospital said in a statement on June 17 , per KOCO. “For many, the emotional impact of this tragedy has never fully faded.”
The hospital added that it was “not a story of entertainment or a destination for tourism. It is a story of devastating loss.”
