Taylor Parker complained about prison conditions and not being able to wear makeup in court after she was arrested for killing her pregnant friend Reagan Simmons-Hancock cutting the baby out of her body and trying to pass the newborn off as her own.
In a new jail call recording obtained by The Sun, Parker, 33, complained to her mom, Shona Prior, about her life behind bars. In addition to criticizing her jail cell, Parker complained about not being able to wear makeup during court proceedings and cried about not being able to speak to her two children.
“Mom, they would charge me with s***ting on a fly right now if they could, literally, that’s what it comes down to,” Parker claimed during the call, which took place sometime between 2021 and 2022.
“I mean, there’s another girl that’s here, and they literally just threw some bogus bulls*** on her just because they could, just because it makes them look better,” Parker continued. “I mean, it’s like [you do] one horrible thing, they’ll do anything and whatever.”
Prior responded by saying she understood what she was saying. However, she added, “I don’t think you’re thinking about that like you should be thinking about that.”
“I mean, it’s not just you do one horrible thing and they try to throw the book at you,” Prior continued.
Parker apologized to her mother through tears, but Prior made it clear she wasn’t convinced that Parker was truly sorry.
“I know you did not think about the consequences of your actions. I know that,” Prior said.
After Parker cried about not being able to see her son, Prior responded, “I’m sure it does, but you know what? I hate to say this, but if you’d have been thinking about the children that you had on earth, you might not be in the situation you’re in.”
“But, I mean, that’s what’s done is done. And you have to go forward and deal with the consequences as best you can,” Prior said. “You’re not the only one dealing with them. We’re all dealing with them.”
Parker shares daughter Emyrson with ex Donald Whiteside and son Trey with her first ex-husband, Tommy Wacasey. Prior currently has custody of Emersyn, while Wacasey has custody of Trey.
The conversation then turned to Parker’s concerns about not being able to wear makeup in court, which Prior seemed more sympathetic about.
“So the thing about it is if they try to discriminate [against] you as a person, that will work in your favor in the long run because they’re not giving you a fair chance,” Prior said. “You know, they’re wanting you to look like a homeless criminal.
Prior continued, “They’re not wanting you to look like a human because that would be beneficial to you and detrimental to them.”
After Parker killed Simmons-Hancock and her unborn daughter Braxlynn Sage in October 2020, she was convicted of capital murder and kidnapping in 2022. She was then sentenced to death and is currently awaiting her execution.
Her case has recently reentered the spotlight when the story was featured in Netflix’s June documentary Maternal Instinct.
