3. ‘Christy’ (2025)

IMDb rank: 6.4

Sydney Sweeney went all out to get in fighting shape to play boxer Christy Martin in the sports biopic Christy. Although the film didn’t become an awards season darling, it may be remembered as one of Sweeney’s best performances. The story follows Martin when she was still Christy Salters, a high school student who went out of her way to hide her sexuality.

After being recruited and later married by her boxing coach, James V. Martin (Ben Foster), Martin makes a name for herself inside the ring. You know things are bad when Don King (Chad L. Coleman) is the voice of reason in Martin’s story. Tensions between Martin and her husband also rise to a horrifying degree. It may take one of Martin’s rivals, Lisa Holewyne (Katy O’Brian), to help heal the hole in her heart.

Christy is now streaming on HBO Max.

2. ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ (2006)

IMDb rank: 7.0

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is just a few weeks away from hitting theaters, so there’s no time like the present to revisit the original film. In this adaptation of Lauren Weisberger‘s novel, Meryl Streep doesn’t play the literal devil, but Miranda Priestly may be the next best thing. Streep was Oscar-nominated for her turn as the ruthless editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine Runway.

Miranda is a legend in the industry, and working for her is a big deal for Andrea “Andy” Sachs (Anne Hathaway). Andy kind of fell into the fashion industry by accident, but she throws herself into the work and devotes a great deal of time and effort into making herself look good while keeping Miranda happy. But if Andy really wants to succeed at Runway, she may have to step over her colleague, Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), and shed any sense of remorse for her actions.

The Devil Wears Prada is streaming on HBO Max.

1. ‘The Mummy’ (1999)

IMDb rank: 7.1

There’s a new take on The Mummy heading to theaters later this month, barely a decade after the failed reboot starring Tom Cruise. But aside from the Universal Monsters incarnation on The Mummy nearly a century ago, the most successful film was the 1999 reboot starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.

This is a pure action-adventure story with a few comedic touches as Fraser channels his inner Harrison Ford as Rick O’Connell, an adventurer and rogue in the 1920s. Archeologist Evelyn Carnahan (Weisz) hires Rick to help her locate a treasure that’s been lost for centuries. What they find is a newly awakened mummy, Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), who believes that Evelyn is the reincarnation of his lost love. Everyone else is expendable to Imhotep, and it falls to Rick to save the world from his wrath.

The Mummy is streaming on HBO Max.
