American Horror Story: Hotel’s Alexandra Daddario on Filming Her Threesome, Meeting Zac Efron for Baywatch

Alexandra Daddario

Pain in the neck! Alexandra Daddario is returning to American Horror Story: Hotel as Natacha Rambova — and judging by her character’s previous appearance, things are going to get messy.

Daddario, 29, appears on the FX series’ Dec. 9 episode, where she plays the fashionable, bloodthirsty wife of Rudolph Valentino (Finn Wittrock). The actress tells Us Weekly that she loves getting to experience a few firsts on the set.

“In the episode that aired already, I had my first threesome, which was exciting,” she says with a laugh. “And I got to do five and a half hours of prosthetic makeup, which was fascinating. I’ve never had it done to me.”

Daddario, who admits she enjoyed watching herself transform during her lengthy stint in the makeup chair, says the show provides her with plenty of unique experiences as an actor, including dining on other people’s flesh.

“When you’re with another actor who’s also been through five hours of prosthetic makeup, and you’re eating another person’s neck and fake blood is being spurted out at you for two minutes, it’s incredibly fun, and you’re in character for that time,” she says. “You can’t really believe that that’s your job.”

Daddario, who doesn’t yet know if she’ll return to the show for future seasons, praises the entire cast, including Lady Gaga (The Countess), who joined her in that sexy threesome scene.

“She’s just great and hilarious and incredibly sharp and intelligent,” Daddario says of the pop star. “There was something about her as a woman that I found her to be so inspiring — her outspokenness and her confidence and just her kindness.”

The True Detective actress says she hadn’t been told ahead of time that John Lowe (Wes Bentley) would turn out to be the Ten Commandments Killer, although she claims she could “sort of” see it coming. And she adds that this season’s conclusion will be “extremely exciting” for fans.

Daddario also stays busy with film roles, as she is set to begin shooting Baywatch in early 2016 opposite Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson. And while she is excited to start working on the comedic adaptation of the 1990s beach-rescue TV series, she is acutely aware that she’ll soon be showing off her figure in the show’s signature red swimsuit.

“I’m debating how much fun to have [before the shoot], how much cheese I should be eating or not over the holidays in preparation for Baywatch,” she jokes.

The actress is uncertain whether the series’ original stars will appear in the film, but she’s crossing her fingers for some cameos. “I hope so,” she says about whether she might meet David Hasselhoff. “That would make a great Instagram photo — me and David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.”

This is the first time that she’ll be working with 28-year-old Efron, whom she calls “incredibly nice,” and marks her reunion with her San Andreas co-star Johnson, 43.

“He inspires such confidence in me,” she says of the burly Furious 7 actor. “He’s such a hardworking and kind, genuine guy. He makes me want to work even harder — I think he does that for everybody on a set.”

American Horror Story: Hotel airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
