Seeing red? Ben Higgins shocked Lauren Bushnell on Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After‘s Wednesday, November 16, episode by telling her he wants to pull the plug on their wedding plans. And the flight attendant wasn’t the only one taken aback by the news, as viewers had a lot to say on Twitter about the unexpected development. Watch the intense moment in the clip above!
The Freeform relationship series’ two-hour installment showed the Bachelor season 20 engaged pair enduring a tense counseling session, in which Higgins told Bushnell that he hopes to marry her someday but wanted to put their plans for the nuptials on hold for now.
“So you’re saying the wedding is off?” a confused Bushnell asked. Higgins replied, “Yeah, I am. The wedding’s off. … I think this thing sped up real fast, and we haven’t had a second to breathe.”
The former Bachelor, 28, went on to say that he felt they “just haven’t done anything.” This led his fiancée to reply, “When you say that we just haven’t done anything, it hurts because I’ve moved to Denver and had to switch jobs, and I left my life in L.A. to come and do the life with you.”
Chris Harrison dropped by to weigh in on the major change as well. “I’m sorry to hear the wedding’s off, but I just want what’s best for you,” the Bachelor host told them.
The episode ended on a slightly optimistic note, with Higgins and Bushnell getting relationship advice from a long-married couple. However, this was clearly not the joyous road to the altar that fans may have been expecting.
Viewers were not shy about sharing their thoughts on the way Higgins handled the decision. Check out the best tweets below.
