Carmen Electra hasn’t met Brooks Nader in person, but they have a shared bond as stars of Baywatch past and present.
“Basically [I] said, ‘Just be ready. Make sure that you’re in your top physical shape,’” Electra, 54, exclusively told Us of the advice she gave Nader, 29, ahead of her debut on Fox’s upcoming Baywatch reboot.
Electra — who was promoting her stint on Nation’s Dumbest, airing on Fox Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET — revealed that she advised Nader that she’ll be “running in the sand, diving over [and] jumping over waves, diving into the water,” which isn’t as easy as it sounds.
The actress told Nader, “You’re going to be coming out of the water, looking into the camera, and they’re going to say, ‘Don’t close your eyes.’ And your eyes are going to be burning.”
Electra recalled that the saltwater burns her eyes when she was shooting the iconic scenes running in and out of the ocean in slow motion.
She explained to Nader, who will play Selene in the new show, that she’s going to need to “open those beautiful eyes, and you’re going to need to look gorgeous coming out of that water, and you know the slow-motion run.”
When it comes to any tips she shared about being ready to don the iconic red swimsuit, Electra told Us that the whole cast is “so beautiful” that they don’t need to do much in the way of preparation.
“I just told her what to expect. You can get into really good shape running, practicing on the beach,” Electra said. “It’s hard to run in the sand; it’s not easy. That’s a really good place to start. You know, and she’s gonna have to do it anyway.”
Baywatch premiered on NBC in 1989 and followed California lifeguards — with David Hasselhoff at the helm — who saved lives as beachgoers found themselves in trouble while swimming, encountering sharks and even an occasional serial killer.
The show ran for 11 seasons, later moving to Hawaii for more adventures, before its series finale aired in May 2001.
Electra joined the cast for season 8, which aired from 1997 to 1998, playing Lani McKenzie. She reprised the role in several movies, including Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding, which featured Hasselhoff as Mitch Buchannon and Pamela Anderson as C.J. Parker.
In September 2025, Fox announced it was rebooting the series, which made slow-motion running on the beach in sexy bathing suits synonymous with California beach culture.
Stephen Amell will play Hobie Buchannon, the son of original series lead Mitch (Hasselhoff), alongside Nader, Noah Beck and Shay Mitchell, all of whom will be series regulars.
When it comes to her role in the reboot, Electra said she’s open to a cameo if the producers want her to return.
“I think it would be so much fun. Why not? They should bring me on to have a scene with David Chokachi. I think it would be such a little surprise, you know?” Electra teased to Us, referring to her former costar, who is reprising his role as Cody Madison. “They’d keep it really quiet, and maybe we could have a little love affair or something.”
She added, “If [the showrunners] called, I would love to do it.”
Electra added that with or without a cameo, she is excited to see how the new show continues the Baywatch legacy.
“I think it’s gonna be amazing. What we’ve seen with the cast has been really great,” she shared. “Everyone looks like they’re ready for the beach [and] ready to get into action because it’s a lot of work. But you know, everything looks really cool, and I can’t wait to see it.”
Nation’s Dumbest airs on FOX Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Baywatch is set to premiere on the network in January 2027.
