So this is love… and magic! The second official trailer for Disney’s live-action Cinderella was released on Wednesday, Feb. 11, and the chill inducing two-and-a-half-minute second preview shows the title character’s first encounter with the dashing Prince Charming.
In the preview, Cinderella (Downton Abbey‘s Lily James) rides horseback through the woods when she encounters a terrified stag, which is being tracked down by a pack of royal hunters.
“Run,” the compassionate heroine tells the beast. “Quickly or they’ll catch you. Go.”
She then confronts Prince Charming (Game of Thrones‘ Richard Madden) for scaring and hunting the stag. “Just because it’s what’s done doesn’t mean it should be done,” she tells the royal in their very first encounter. Afterwards, Prince Charming cannot stop thinking of Cinderella, but is told by his father, the king, that he is “not free to follow his heart.”
Back at Cinderella’s home, her ruthless stepmother (Cate Blanchett at her fiercest) refers to her as a “ragged servant girl,” as she plots for her daughters to win over the Prince’s heart at the ball.
Cinderella’s fairy godmother (a blonde Helena Bonham Carter!) also makes an appearance, and warns the heroine — clad in a stunning rendition of the memorable blue ball gown — that the spell wears off at midnight.
The Kenneth Branagh-directed Cinderella reboot, which was inspired by the classic fairy tale and Disney’s beloved 1950 animated movie, will hit theaters on Mar. 13. Watch the intense and beautiful trailer above!
