She’s in on the joke! Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson is preparing to host Saturday Night Live on Feb. 28, and it’s a safe bet that there will be an S&M spoof in there somewhere.
The freshly minted star and daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson taped promos for the show with longtime cast member Taran Killam, frequently referencing her recent box office smash throughout the new clip.
From complaining about her mom not going to see the film in a whiny voice to helping Killam pick out a gray tie, Johnson, 25, seemingly enjoyed making light of the blockbuster film adaptation.
When Killam claims not to know what Fifty Shades is about, she replies it’s about a girl who doesn’t know what shade of gray to paint her bedroom.
“I was just kidding, I get my tushy spanked with a belt,” she later says. “Gonna see that!” Killam quickly replies.
Fifty Shades of Grey was released on Valentine’s weekend to mixed reviews, but critics widely applauded Johnson’s performance as the innocent Anastasia Steele while panning her costar Jamie Dornan as the aloof Christian Grey. So far Fifty Shades has brought in more than $400 million worldwide at the box office.
