The sports world will indeed be well represented this season. Retired NFL wide receiver Calvin Johnson is teaming with Lindsay Arnold, and race car driver James Hinchcliffe is dancing with Sharna Burgess. Two Olympians are also joining the fray: Hernandez (with Valentin Chmerkovskiy) and the embattled Lochte (with Cheryl Burke).
Some prominent music figures are also heading to the ballroom, including country singer Jana Kramer, who is with Gleb Savchenko. Producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds is competing with Allison Holker, and rapper Vanilla Ice is partnering with Witney Carson.
Also competing for the Mirrorball this fall are Rose (with Maksim Chmerkovskiy), Taxi alum Marilu Henner (with Derek Hough), Little Women: L.A.’s Terra Jolé (with Sasha Farber), former Texas governor Rick Perry (with Emma Slater), Wizards of Waverly Place’s Jake T. Austin (with Jenna Johnson) and The Brady Bunch’s Maureen McCormick (with Artem Chigvintsev).
The reigning champ is America’s Next Top Model alum Nyle DiMarco, who triumphed over UFC star Paige VanZant for the season 22 title with his pro partner, Peta Murgatroyd. (Murgatroyd, 30, is expecting her first child with fiancé Maks, so she is sitting this season out.)
