Get ready to meet the Gladstones! Fuller House will introduce Joey’s wife and their four children in the Netflix series’ second season, according to a new report.
TV Line reported that Dave Coulier’s character’s wife, Ginger, is an “enthusiastic, upbeat, fun-loving magician” who is “a little clueless in the parenting department.” Viewers will meet Ginger when the Gladstone family crashes the Fuller/Tanner/Gibbler Thanksgiving celebration in the sixth episode of season 2.
Creator Jeff Franklin, who also worked on the original Full House series, explained to TV Line in February that Joey’s family wasn’t introduced in the Netflix sitcom’s first season because of timing.
“It didn’t make it into the script, but at one point, we had him with a wife and kids back in Vegas,” he said at the time. Executive producer Bob Boyett added, “It just didn’t fit anywhere in the stories we developed. We had Joey — in the stories we were using him — come in for specific reasons. We just haven’t gotten to everything yet, and we don’t get to everything, even in the 13 episodes [of season 1].”
In May, Coulier, 56, sat down for an interview with Us Weekly Video and joked about his lost family. “I’m hoping maybe this season I can meet my family, my wife and my kids that I’ve created,” he quipped. (Watch the video above to see what else he said!)
Last month, Bure, 40, who plays D.J. Tanner, exclusively told Us Weekly that she would love for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to reprise their role as Michelle Tanner on season 2. The twins were the only original members of the Tanner family who didn’t appear on Fuller House’s first season.
“It would be great if they did, but I think the fans can see, too, that the show is so full already,” she explained in May. “We would love for them to join, but we have a lot to do even if they don’t.”
The actress also told Us that D.J.’s high school sweetheart, Steve Hale (Scott Weinger), is “definitely back.”
