Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has said previously that she planned to end the show with four words she didn’t get to use during the original run, as she left Gilmore Girls ahead of the seventh and final season that ended in 2007.

Her second chance came with Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the revival featuring four new 90-minute episodes, each centered on a different season of the year in Stars Hollow.

The update kicks off with Rory (Alexis Bledel) spending time with her largely unmemorable boyfriend, Paul (Jack Carpenter), who is new to the series. She also manages to find plenty of time to canoodle with her former Yale sweetheart, Logan (Matt Czuchry). Oh, and she has a sexy run-in with a guy in a Wookiee costume because the heart wants what it wants.

Basically, by the time the revival’s final episode ends, Rory has called off her fling with Logan — who’s engaged to a French heiress — and has been dumped by Paul.

And then come the stunning final four words! Rory says, “Mom?” Lorelai asks, “Yeah?” Rory replies with, “I’m pregnant.” That sound you hear is jaws across America hitting the floor in unison.
