Who Is Hosting the 2026 Emmy Awards?
Mariska Hargitay will host the 2026 Emmys. Hargitay won her first Emmy 20 years ago for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which she still headlines today as NYC’s most dedicated detective, Olivia Benson. She won two more Emmys a week ago at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards for her critically acclaimed documentary, My Mom Jayne, which is streaming on HBO Max. The last woman to host the ceremony was Glee actress Jane Lynch in 2011.
In an interview on Today, Hargitay revealed her thought process in accepting the offer to host the ceremony.
“I thought about it over the weekend, and then I started going, ‘Why not?’” she said.
“Which is where I kind of am in my life. I was so incredibly honored and, again, knowing that it’s the first woman in 15 years was absolutely thrilling. And I am somebody to take on new challenges.”
