The great chicken or tuna debate! Jessica Simpson shared a nostalgic post about her infamous “Chicken of the Sea” gaffe, and it’s seriously the best.

The singer-actress, 36, referenced the cringeworthy moment from Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, her former reality show with ex-husband Nick Lachey. In the first episode, screened in 2003, Simpson is confronted with a can of Chicken of the Sea tuna and asks, “Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish? I know it’s tuna, but it says chicken … by the sea?”
Lachey had to explain that it’s the brand name of the tuna. “A lot of people eat tuna and a lot of people eat chicken, so it’s like the ‘Chicken of the Sea,’” he says.
The “Sweetest Sin” singer reposted a photo on Twitter on Monday, November 28, of a chicken floating in the ocean, which asked, “Maybe Jessica Simpson was on to something?” Simpson captioned it, “#Chickenofthesea” and shared it with her followers, who loved the self-deprecating post.
“Memories! All time classic funny line,” one fan wrote, while another added, “I took your word for it from the start Jessie.”
The MTV show aired for three seasons until 2005. Simpson and Lachey filed for divorce later that year. The fashion designer was remarried, to NFL player Eric Johnson, in 2014, and the couple share two kids, Maxwell, 4, and Ace, 3.
Lachey tied the knot with Vanessa Lachey in 2011, and they also have two children, Camden, 4, and Brooklyn, 22 months. Vanessa announced in September that she’s expecting baby No. 3 and shared a video on Thanksgiving revealing that it’s a boy.
