One year later, the loss still stings. Joan Rivers died exactly 12 months ago today, Sept. 4, at the age of 81. To mark the anniversary of her death, and to honor her incredible life, Fashion Police dedicated an entire episode in her memory on Thursday, Sept. 3 — the aptly named Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan.
The E! special, which followed a similar Fashion Police tribute that aired after her passing in 2014, featured highlight reels of the late comedienne's many years as host of the style series, which her daughter Melissa now co-hosts with Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski.
One such reel celebrated Rivers' no-holds-barred style of comedy, which she used to great effect with Fashion Police's many celeb guests. "Not only did I never know what was gonna come out of my mother's mouth, neither did the stars who were brave enough to sit in the hot seat," Melissa, 47, said by way of introduction.
The show then rolled tape on some of the late icon's wildest moments with Big Sean, Ellie Kemper, Sarah Silverman, Kris Jenner, Busy Philipps, and even Miss Piggy.
Another reel featured clips of the Daytime Emmy winner saying a certain word over and over again. "Everyone knows my mother loved her dogs. But her favorite word was definitely more related to cats," Melissa teased.
