Kelly Rowland Says The Boy Is Mine Tour ‘Lit Me Up’ to Record New Music: ‘I Missed Performing’ (Exclusive)

Kelly Rowland has no interest in putting the microphone down after performing across the country for The Boy Is Mind tour.

“It actually lit me up in the most beautiful way,” Rowland, 45, exclusively shared with Us Weekly when discussing her partnership with Lilly and EBGLYSS. “I left the tour and ran right into the studio to be honest, and I missed performing. It was just so much fun. I didn’t know I could have that much fun on stage.”

From October to December 2025, Rowland served as a special guest on Brandy and Monica’s massive tour.

Every night, Rowland savored the “connection” she felt between herself and the fans who have supported her since she got her start in Destiny’s Child.

“These people that are there, we’ve actually grown up together,” she shared. “When I started in this business, I was 15, 16 years old. They were 15 and 16 years old. We’re in our 40s, and mind you, everybody every night looks so damn good. They dressed to the nines. They came ready to have a good time, and that was a wonderful feeling.”

While Rowland isn’t sharing too much about her future plans, the Grammy winner said “music definitely excites me,” and she’s “cooking” in the studio.

In the midst of her inspirational surge, she is also using her voice to raise awareness about moderate-to-severe eczema and treatment options.

After being diagnosed following the birth of her first son with husband Tim Weatherspoon, Rowland said she wanted her partnership with Lilly and EBGLYSS to spark a conversation about what can be a painful skin condition that causes dry, itchy and inflamed skin.

“It’s so much information now with social media, and I think that I really wanted this [campaign] to feel intentional and really cut right through the way I have conversations with my girlfriends about eczema,” Rowland explained. “One of my girlfriends has it all over her hand, and I get it. It just flares up anywhere it wants to, and eczema does kind of have a mind of its own.”

EBGLYSS is an injectable medicine used to treat adults and children 12 years of age and older who weigh at least 88 pounds with moderate-to-severe eczema. Potential patients are recommended to check with their doctors to see if it could be a fit.

While Rowland has had no problem making the Best Dressed list at red carpets or concerts, the singer admits that eczema flare ups have occurred during some of the most inconvenient moments in her life.

“There was this one time I was overseas, and I had a flare up in the corner of my eye, and I kept scratching,” she said. “By the time it was time for me to perform, I remember the area that I was scratching was blacker than the rest of my eye.”

While she was fortunate enough to have a makeup artist cover it up, Rowland couldn’t help but to think, “Are they looking at my eyes? It messes with your confidence.”

Through all the highs and lows of her life, Rowland said her faith and family have kept her grounded and grateful for all the blessings around her.

“I am nothing without my faith,” she proclaimed to Us. “I’m so grateful to my mother for introducing me to my faith, and it being my north star. … I encourage people to understand that it is personal, and He never leaves you. He never leaves you, never fails, and I’m grateful.”
