Lauren Conrad: I Got Into a ‘Huge Fight’ When ‘The Hills’ Producer Tried to Tell Me Who to Kiss

A bit too much input? Lauren Conrad reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly that she got into a massive argument with a producer of The Hills who tried to tell her who to kiss.

To celebrate the 10 the anniversary of The Hills‘ MTV debut on May 31, 2006, Conrad tells Us that she was “exhausted” during the long shooting days she endured while filming a season 3 visit to Paris that aired in 2008. Making the trip even more difficult was the fact that the hit show’s producers had selected a rocker guy who they wanted Lauren to date during her stay in the City of Light.

“At that point, they had picked out this boy — they had this idea that I needed to fall in love in Paris,” she says. “So they had picked out this boy who was very nice, but I just wasn’t interested.”

Producers were apparently persistent, and Conrad, now 30, remembers putting her foot down after she was encouraged to kiss the selected guy.

“In Paris, they wanted me to kiss that boy good night,” recalls the lifestyle blogger, who married William Tell in 2014. “And I got into a huge fight with my producer in the lobby! He was like, ‘You didn’t even give him a kiss good night.’ And I was like, ‘I don’t like that boy — why would I kiss him good night?!'”

“And [the producer] was like, ‘It would be the perfect ending!'” she continues. “And I’m like, ‘No.'”

Conrad adds that producers were similarly encouraging that she share sparks with Brody Jenner, who joined the cast in season 2. But she never really felt the magic with the reality TV mainstay.

“We were always more friends than anything,” the Celebrate author tells Us of Jenner, now 32. “It was always a blurred, weird relationship. … He was always very sweet to me, and we enjoyed each other’s company, but I think it was one of those things where producers really wanted us to be together, and we both knew that we didn’t really have that kind of chemistry. But at the same time, we were friends, and we were happy to film together.”

The Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County alum also told Us why she threw a “fit” after producers locked her in a basement during Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt‘s wedding.
