Ringing in the new year with a ring! Dancing With the Stars pro Mark Ballas proposed to longtime girlfriend BC Jean (a.k.a. Brittany Jean Carlson) in November, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly.
“Mark and his girlfriend are engaged,” the source tells Us. “She’s wearing an engagement ring.”
The insider also revealed that the dance pro and singer, 29, proposed to the singer/songwriter, 28, the day before Thanksgiving. “They have been keeping their exciting news on the down-low as they wanted to celebrate and enjoy the holidays with close friends and family,” the source says.
An eyewitness spotted Jean wearing her engagement ring when the pair posed for pictures backstage at L.A.’s Viper Room after a sold-out show with their group, Alexander Jean, on Friday, January 8.
The longtime couple met back in 2012 when they both were slated to perform at a singer/songwriter livestream event. They began dating and formed Alexander Jean.
The bride-to-be, who wrote the Beyoncé hit “If I Were a Boy,” and Ballas performed their song “Roses and Violets” at the June 2015 wedding of Duck Dynasty star John Luke Robertson to Mary Kate McEacharn. The song was subsequently featured on the most recent season of DWTS, scoring Bindi Irwin and partner Derek Hough perfect 10s when they danced to it. The song also went to No. 1 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart and hit No. 6 on the pop chart.
The newly engaged couple, who haven’t decided on a wedding date yet, are set to perform together at the SXSW music festival in Austin in March.
