Michael Strahan to Join Good Morning America: Report

Michael Strahan attends an event on October 28, 2013

Truly, the Morning Show Musical Chairs Game never, never stops! Michael Strahan is expected to join the cast of ABC's Good Morning America on a part-time basis, CNN, The Associated Press and other outlets are reporting. The retired football star's current partner-in-crime Kelly Ripa needn't worry, however: Strahan, 42, will continue to co-host Live! With Kelly and Michael alongside his GMA gig.

Strahan is joining the top-rated GMA during a time of transition: Longtime weatherman Sam Champion decamped recently for The Weather Channel, while co-anchor Josh Elliot left just this past weekend for NBC Sports.

Elliot's departure was said to be a contentious one, with ABC News president Ben Sherwood strongly hinting that Elliot had demanded too much money. "We worked hard to close a significant gap between our generous offer and his expectations," Elliot wrote in a memo. "Josh felt he deserved a different deal and so he chose a new path."

Strahan will join Elliot's replacement Amy Robach, new weatherperson Ginger Zee plus mainstays Lara Spencer, Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.
