Hang onto your hats — because Hurricane Bethenny is coming through! The Wednesday, June 1, episode of The Real Housewives of New York City picked up with Bethenny Frankel and Luann de Lesseps still screaming at each other about whether Lu had or had not, in fact, claimed to have participated in the creation of the Skinnygirl margarita.
“Let’s go back on the delusional Skinnygirl tour, hosted by Luann!” Bethenny chimed to the cameras. For a brief moment, however, it appeared that the storm was going to pass, as they exchanged a few sentences that were borderline civil. That’s when Lu asked Bethenny if she was dating anyone special.
“I’m sick of your bulls–t,” Bethenny replied. “You think I’m going to tell you who I’m dating?!” She then told the (former) Countess that she was “so full of it,” prompting Luann to blast Bethenny for copying her hairstyle. Then things really started to go downhill.
Bethenny Calls Luann a “Slut” (Among Other Things)
It seemed that Bethenny and Luann both forgot they were guests in Dorinda Medley‘s home as they let their confrontation escalate even further. Lu asked Bethenny point-blank what exactly bothered her so much.
“You pretend you’re something you’re not,” Bethenny snapped back. “You’re not a girl’s girl.” Luann thought for a moment and replied, “No, you’re not a girl’s girl!” At that moment, Bethenny had just plain had it.
“What man have I ever rolled up on? What married man have I ever slept with? What young 25-year-old did I ever f–k and then give my friend s–t about it? You are a hypocrite! You f–k everyone, and you pretend you don’t!” Bethenny shouted. “You are a slut and a liar and a hypocrite and a snake.”
Luann responded by calling Bethenny a “piece of s–t” and walking away, which gave Bethenny a chance to consider her actions.
“I’m in someone else’s house, and I called someone a whore,” she said sheepishly to the camera. “Maybe it’s past my bedtime.” Bethenny then looked hard in the mirror … and decided her hair did sort of resemble Luann’s.
Luann Spars With Ramona, But Carole Isn’t Happy Either
Luann wasn’t off the hook just yet, though, as she then clashed with Ramona Singer over the fact that Lu was now dating Tom, a man who had gone out with Ramona first — though the extent of their relationship differed according to who one asked. If you asked Ramona, however, they had gone out seven times, and that was enough to warrant Luann asking for permission before she started going out with him. Lu disagreed.
“I don’t care because it’s before I met him,” Lu shrugged to the camera while she told Ramona she had no intention of ever asking for “permission to date anyone.”
Ramona responded by rehashing a story one of Bethenny’s friends had reportedly shared. It involved Luann running into Tom while he was still seeing Ramona and telling him she was going to be next. Lu flatly denied any such exchange ever happened.
Meanwhile, Carole Radziwill (who arrived after the other ladies) was none too pleased when she discovered Luann was at the house, and promptly announced that if she had known Lu was going to be there, she wouldn’t have come. Carole, it turned out, was still pretty bitter about Luann calling her a pedophile when she first started dating Adam, but Luann wasn’t all that interested in apologizing … at least at first.
Dorinda Basically Kicks Everyone Out
Luann headed outside, where Jules Wainstein was on the phone dealing with her sick father, but rather than talk about whether Jules’ dad was dying, Luann complained that Dorinda hadn’t backed her up in her fight with Bethenny. When Dorinda wandered outside, Luann told her that she needed to tell Bethenny to “back it up,” or she was leaving. Dorinda’s lukewarm response to that demand rubbed Lu the wrong way, and she headed back in the house to make fun of Dorinda’s birthday cake, which Dorinda’s mother had dropped off. For the hostess, that insult was the final straw.
“I think everyone is acting very poorly. I put in a big effort here,” Dorinda said. “I made a conscious choice not to invite Sonja [Morgan], so we could all have a good time.” (Side note: Not only did Sonja avoid this disaster of a night, but also while the other girls were gone, she had her vagina resurfaced and rejuvenated. In other words, Sonja wins.)
Tears started running down Dorinda’s face as she continued, “I think it’s a disgrace of you people!” she shouted. “You hold your things to yourself! I cooked all day! I decorated! I did it nice! I am ashamed! If no one can behave themselves, then you all go home! Because I decorated, and I cooked, and I made it nice! So go home!”
Seeing how upset Dorinda was, the mood turned somber, and the women tried to reset the night. Jules suggested they all jump in the pool and join the Polar Bear Club. Luann half-heartedly suggested a round of charades. Ramona asked if Dorinda had Twister handy.
Ramona Plays Peacemaker (Seriously)
In a rare changing of the guards, it was Ramona who stepped in to help Luann smooth things out with Bethenny and Carole. After explaining to Luann that she had sort of tried to take credit for helping create Skinnygirl, Ramona helped Luann craft text-message apologies to both of her foes. Needless to say, even with Ramona’s help, Lu’s attempts to say sorry fell somewhat short — still, it was progress. But after that one small step forward, Lu took several huge steps back.
Luann Goes Off on Bethenny One Last Time
Clearly not having learned her lesson that sometimes it’s best to just keep your trap shut, Luann decided to complain a bit more about Bethenny. “Who is she to judge me, by the way?” Lu asked the hostess. To the camera, she added, “She is so deeply unhappy that I think it kills her to see me happy. Why is she so interested in my love life?”
Luann then got on another roll, laying it all out for Dorinda. “She tries to take John down. She takes Sonja down. Now she’s after me? What is she, on a mission to ruin her friends?” LuAnn asked … just as Bethenny creeped around the corner.
“Is this part of the apology you sent me over text?” Bethenny quipped. “This whole little monologue?” Luann turned to see Bethenny in the doorway, and the color basically drained from her face.
