Rob Reiner has received an Emmy nomination for his role in The Bear six months after his death.
Reiner was posthumously nominated on Wednesday, July 8, for Best Guest Actor in Comedy for his portrayal of businessman Albert Schnurr in season 4 of the series.
The Bear paid tribute to Reiner in the June finale, in which Ebra (Edwin Lee Gibson) called Albert for advice and got in contact with him to share news.
“Albert, we are in business,” Ebra said over the phone. “It’s perfect. I will have all the documents, email it to you immediately. Anything else I can do?”
While Albert couldn’t be heard on the other end of the phone, Ebra replied, “As you wish.” (The comment was a nod to Cary Elwes’ line from the 1987 movie The Princess Bride, which Reiner directed.)
Rob and his wife, Michele Reiner, were found dead in December 2025 with multiple sharp force injuries at their home in Brentwood, California. Rob and Michele were 78 and 70, respectively. The pair are survived by their children Jake, Nick and Romy. (Rob was also the father of daughter Tracy, whom he adopted during his previous marriage to the late Penny Marshall.)
Nick, 32, was arrested on suspicion of his parents’ murders that month and later charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty in February. Nick is being held without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles until his trial, with his next court appearance scheduled for September.
After Nick’s arrest, Jake and Romy broke their silence on their parents’ deaths.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends,” the pair said in a statement to TMZ.
The statement continued, “We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life. We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
In April, Jake opened up about the moment he learned about Rob and Michele’s deaths.
“I received a call from my sister Romy telling me our father was dead,” he wrote in a Substack essay. “Minutes later, she called back telling me our mother was also dead.”
Jake continued, “The 45-minute Lyft ride from downtown to the west side was unendurable. My world, as I knew it, had collapsed. I was in a trance. The only thing I could focus on was that I needed to get to my childhood home. I needed to get to my sister. I needed to figure out what the hell just happened.”
