Double take! Four days after news broke that Selma Blair had been cast as Kris Jenner in FX’s upcoming series American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, the first photos of Blair in character as the world-famous momager have surfaced online.
Taken on set in L.A., the pics show the Cruel Intentions actress, 42, rocking Jenner’s famous cropped hairdo. Between that and her dark eyeliner (not to mention that skirt suit!), she’s a ringer for the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star circa 1994.
“People do say I look like Kris,” Blair told Us Weekly at an event for the Children’s Justice Campaign on May 12, where she met Jenner for the first time on the red carpet. She added that she was “very excited” for the role, saying, “You kind of have to get in her mindset from like 20 years ago [with] this trial.”
Of course, Blair isn’t the only one trying to go back in time. Elsewhere on the American Crime Story set, David Schwimmer was photographed in character as Jenner’s late ex-husband, Robert Kardashian, dad to Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and Rob.
To play the famed attorney — who was part of the team representing O.J. Simpson in the murder trial of Nicole Brown Simpson — the Friends alum sported a double-breasted power suit and wore his dark hair gelled up, with Kardashian’s distinctive white streak in the front.
Schwimmer told the Associated Press at the Fox Upfronts in New York City this week that he’d gotten some pointers about how to play the late attorney from Kardashian’s ex-wife, Jenner, whom he describe as “very generous with her time.”
“I was lucky enough to speak to her for a few hours,” he shared. “I thought, ‘Who better to tell me who Robert was as a husband and a father than her?’ And it’s been a very exciting process so far.”
For others, too — including John Travolta. Like Blair and Schwimmer, the Pulp Fiction star was photographed on set this week, all done up for his role as litigator Robert Shapiro. According to Variety, Travolta is producing as well as starring in the Ryan Murphy-backed miniseries.
Also among the cast is Cuba Gooding Jr., who will play O.J. Simpson. Asked about his role at the Fox Upfronts on May 11, the Oscar winner said, “People keep asking me whether I think he did it or not, and I don’t think that’s the goal here, to prove his innocence or his guilt.”
So what is the goal, exactly? “I think it’s more us putting the judicial system under the spotlight,” he told reporters. “We try to find a truth in the moment so that we can find answers. I think this 10 hours of television is gonna be very powerful, and I think a lot of people are going to learn a lot.”
