‘Summer House Canada’ Spinoff Announced 1 Day After Bravo Hit Receives Emmy Nomination

Summer House is going global.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Thursday, July 9, that the Bravo series is heading to Canada for its first-ever international spinoff, aptly named Summer House Canada.

The upcoming series is set to air on NBCUniversal’s reality streaming platform Hayu next year and will feature 10-episodes mirroring a similar format to the OG Summer House. Instead of The Hamptons, however, the show is set to take place in Muskoka, Ontario.

Summer House Canada marks Hayu’s second original series, following The Real Housewives of London, which premiered last year.

“We’re thrilled to bring this adaptation of the standout Summer House format to the market — and Muskoka offers the perfect, iconic Canadian setting to introduce Summer House Canada and build on the franchise’s momentum,” international direct to consumer managing director Hendrik McDermott shared with THR in a statement on Thursday.

Muskoka has been dubbed as the “Hamptons of the North,” featuring more than 1,600 lakes and cottage towns. The show will focus on a group of friends — who have yet to be cast — as they escape life in Toronto for summer weekends.

The Vancouver-based company Lark Productions is on board to produce.

Summer House has become a beloved global franchise known for its authentic friendships, big personalities and the unforgettable moments that come from spending a summer together,” president and executive producer of Lark Productions Erin Haskett told THR on Thursday. “We’re excited to build on that by bringing the Canadian summer experience to fans worldwide.”

News of Summer House Canada comes one day after the original Bravo hit was nominated for its first Emmy Award.

Summer House premiered on Bravo in 2017 and has aired for 10 seasons. The show’s most recent season, which came to an end last month, featured more drama off screen than on when it was revealed that Amanda Batula and West Wilson are dating.

Amanda, 34, was previously married to Summer House costar Kyle Cooke, announcing their decision to separate in January. West, meanwhile, previously dated Amanda’s best friend Ciara Miller.

Amanda and West confirmed their romance in late March, days before the cast came together to film the season 10 reunion. The dramatic three-part sit-down focused on the nature of Amanda and West’s relationship, with the cast attempting to secure a timeline of what went down between them.

Us Weekly has since confirmed that both Amanda and West will not return for Summer House season 11, which began filming in The Hamptons last weekend.

“I wanted to tell it on my own, but that [exit rumor] is true,” West confirmed in a June 24 Instagram video. “In [Bravo’s] defense, I don’t think it would have been a fun summer.”

Summer House is now streaming on Peacock.
