Taken 3 Trailer Released: Liam Neeson Framed for Murder, Beats Up Bad Guys

In Liam we trust! The new trailer for Taken 3 was released Tuesday, Sept. 30, and Liam Neeson is back to protect and defend his family.

The latest installment of the thriller series is once again centered on ex-CIA agent Bryan Mills (Neeson), who last rescued his daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) and ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) from vengeance-obsessed Albanian mobsters.

In the brief interim between Taken 2 and Taken 3, it appears the butt-kicking action hero has reconciled with his ex-wife, only to have their rekindled romance cut short. Mills returns home one afternoon to find a bloody knife in the corridor and Lenore (affectionately referred to as “Lennie”) murdered in bed.

Authorities are seen filing into his home shortly after Mills discovers his love’s body, and he realizes that he’s been framed for the crime. Neeson’s character then goes on a spree to evade police and find his wife’s real killers.

“I was always ready to face the consequences to protect my family,” Mills says. “My first priority is to protect the only one I have left,” he adds of his daughter. (The first installment of the series, which debuted in 2008, featured Mills on a mission to save his daughter after she was kidnapped in Europe.)

Neeson, 62, discussed his high-octane action scenes in the junket for another thriller, A Walk Among the Tombstones, last month. “I do love doing them,” he said of his talked-about fighting scenes. “I have a great fight coordinator who is my stunt double too, Mark Vanselow. We’ve done 16 films now. We work very, very closely with each other. I don’t do my own stunts, but I do my own fighting and stuff. I love doing that stuff. That’s always fun to do.”

When he was told that on-screen daughter Maggie Grace described him as goofy, Neeson responded: “Goofy is not bad.” Joking, he added: “My daughter said that? Next time I’m going to give her away. Taken 4, please take her.”

Taken 3 hits theaters Jan. 9, 2015. Watch the trailer above!
