Taylor Swift has confirmed her connection to Toy Story 5.
Swift, 36, revealed on Monday, June 1, that she has an original song titled “I Knew It, I Knew You,” in the upcoming movie. The CD single, acoustic version and piano version are all available for purchase on her website.
“It’s a *Toy* Story 🤠,” she wrote via Instagram on Monday. “You knew it! My new original song ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ for Disney and @pixar’s @toystory 5 will be yours on June 5th. I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right? You can pre-order now exclusively on my site and catch Toy Story 5 in theaters June 19th ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️.”
Rumors began swirling in April that Swift was involved in the films after eagle-eyed fans noticed a 48-hour countdown on her website. The message appeared with yellow and blue numbers set on a sky blue background with white clouds, which seemingly matched with the wallpaper in Andy’s bedroom in the beloved movies.
That same month, Swift stepped out in a sky blue Staud dress with white stripes, which fans considered to be a potential hint an announcement was coming. Billboards also began popping up with the same font and background featuring 13 clouds.
“13 clouds and ‘TS?’” one user wrote via X. “Swifties know that can’t be a coincidence. The theories are about to go crazy. Swifties see ‘TS’ and the number 13 everywhere now.”
In May, users also noticed that searching for “Taylor Swift” on TikTok led to the clouds floating across the screen. Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album cover, which previously had seagulls in the background, was replaced with clouds on streaming platforms.
Pixar also shared a clip of the Toy Story character Jessie dancing in front of one of the billboards and captioned the post with a nod to Swift’s track “Shake It Off.”
“She’s making those moves up as she goes,” the Instagram post read.
Toy Story 5 is set to drop in theaters on Friday, June 19, the same date that Swift’s debut single “Tim McGraw” was released 20 years prior. The fifth installment of the films is set to follow the toys as owner Bonnie struggles with making friends in the real world, receiving a smart device from her parents.
Days prior to Swift’s announcement, Disney revealed that Bad Bunny has a “voice cameo” in Toy Story 5 while portraying a toy who looks like a slice of pizza wearing sunglasses.
“Effortlessly cool and mysterious, Pizza with Sunglasses is a member of a small but mighty community of forgotten toys that live in an abandoned backyard shed,” a release from Disney read, referring to Bad Bunny’s character.
Alan Cumming also joined the voice ensemble as Evil Bullseye in the new film.
“While Woody’s trusty steed still lacks the power of speech in the world of Toy Story, Cumming provides Bullseye’s voice during a funny playtime sequence in the film,” the release read.
The film will, of course, also star the familiar toys with Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack) and the rest of the game facing off against Lilypad (Greta Lee).
Toy Story 5 hits theaters on June 19.
