Cause for celebration! After last week’s premiere was filled with serious issues like custody battles and divorce, Teen Mom 2 decided to offer up a positive story line in the Thursday, July 16, episode.
Sure, there were still drug tests, martial struggles, and feuding exes, but one of the girls also got a romantic vacation proposal that could make any cold heart melt.
Here’s what happened:
Kailyn Lowry
When we last left Kailyn and her jealous hubby, Javi, the pair were having a potentially marriage-ending spat. He had accused her of cheating on him and had forbidden her from going to an out-of-town concert with her gal pals. Not cool.
Fortunately, Javi’s sis convinced him to let Kail hit the town with her friends, and the mom of two had a blast watching Sam Smith belt out his classics.
“You can’t let him control you like that!” one member of Kailyn’s crew declared.
“This is physically and emotionally draining,” the star admitted. “I would never in a million years want my kids to be in a relationship like this. This is toxic. We know what’s coming. I know, he knows. I know he feels it too.”
Sensing that their argument wasn’t over, Javi travelled to Philly to hit the town with Kailyn and her ladies, hoping to make up. But even after they returned home, the couple was forced to talk out their issues.
“I just want you to know that I’m very, very, very close to my breaking point,” Kailyn admitted.
“I think we both are,” Javi agreed.
It all ended with a hug and a kiss, but that didn’t make it any less worrisome.
Leah Messer
The West Virginia native had a big win last week when she won primary custody of her twins with ex-husband Corey Simms. But Corey still insisted that Leah take a drug test before she was able to take full control of Ali and Aleeah, and the courts agreed and ordered one.
“I was prescribed pain medication when my migraines were so bad I was crawling to the toilet to vomit,” Leah explained to her friend. “The doctor prescribed me with anxiety medication when Ali was in her wheelchair and all that craziness. I’m not over here abusing medication.”
But Corey wasn’t willing to let it slide.
“I was just worried with her driving down the road, jacked up with the girls in the back,” he said. “I can’t control Leah’s prescriptions, so I don’t know.”
Thankfully, Leah’s drug tests all came back negative, and the pair’s custody agreement stayed intact.
“I knew it would come back negative,” Leah declared. “I just think it’s aggravating that they pushed and pushed so hard.”
Chelsea Houska
Girl power! Chelsea joined forces with Adam Lind’s ex-girlfriend and fellow baby mama Taylor to fight their mutual ex on his custody requests.
Amid the legal drama, the entire family, estranged boyfriend and all, attended Aubree’s Christmas performance at school.
“I hope Paislee’s coming because she’s my baby girl!” Aubree declared of her young half-sister.
Unfortunately, Aubree’s “baby girl” couldn’t make it, but her dad did attend. When the show was over, little Aubree threw herself into Adam’s arms, leaving Chelsea to awkwardly cling to her boyfriend, Cole.
Jenelle Evans
Vacation, all she ever wanted! As a part of her birthday present, Jenelle and her boyfriend Nathan headed to St. Thomas for a week away from their kids. But before she left, Jenelle was desperate to see her son Jace.
Unfortunately, her mom, Barbara Evans, wasn’t returning her phone calls and kept the little boy away from his mother. A tearful Jenelle left for the beach while Nathan secretly prepared for his big proposal.
After Nathan’s brother and best pal from the Marines arrived, the scene was set. All that was left to do was for Jenelle’s nervous man to awkwardly announce to an entire restaurant that he was about to pop the question.
Naturally, she said yes, later squealing, “I didn’t think you were ever going to do it. I love you!”
