Never say never! Since appearing on 16 & Pregnant in 2009, Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley have had a contentious relationship (to say the least). But in Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek of the Teen Mom OG season 5 premiere, the parents of daughter Leah, 6, seem to be getting along better than ever.
“I feel like we don’t fight no more. It’s kind of nice,” Portwood, 24, tells Shirley after he expresses concern about her living alone in such a big house.
“Well when you listen to me, when you don’t cut me off, it’s very very nice and it makes for a nice conversation,” he responds.
Of course, that’s not exactly the response Portwood was looking for, but she’s happy they’re not fighting like they used to before they each found love in new relationships. Portwood, who served 17 months in prison after rejecting court-ordered rehab, recently became engaged to boyfriend Matt Baier, and Shirley is expecting a new baby with girlfriend Kristina Anderson.
“I just want to have a good relationship with you,” Portwood tells her ex. “I know, like, we’re not ever going to get back together.”
Shirley, who released a line of condoms in Feburary, has a different point of view. “Can you really say never?”
