Jenna Fischer is raising a couple of entrepreneurial kiddos! The Splitting Up Together star took to Instagram on Monday, May 13, to share a hilarious letter written to her by her children – Weston, 7, and Harper, 5. The missive was about the breakfast Weston and Harper prepared for their famous mom on Mother’s Day (likely with a little help from dad, screenwriter Lee Kirk), which was celebrated the previous day.
“My kids wanted to surprise me with breakfast in bed for Mother’s Day. They came to take my order,” Fischer, 45, captioned a photo of the letter on the photo-sharing platform. “At the end, they gave me this bill.”
Upon closer inspection, the “bill” is an itemized list of the food Fischer ate for breakfast. Her son and daughter charged $3 for coffee with milk and two scrambled eggs, and tacked on an extra 25 cents each for some fruit and “fresh sourdough toast with butter.”
The kids also requested their Emmy-nominated mom pay $1 each for flowers and balloons, bringing her Mother’s Day total to a whopping $5.50.
As some of Fischer’s Instagram followers were quick to point out, it seems Weston and Harper charged their mom for bread that she baked herself. The Office alum loves to cook, and she frequently shows off her freshly made carbs on social media. In fact, Fischer even shared a photo of a picture-perfect sourdough loaf she made just hours before Mother’s Day, which is likely where her “fresh” toast came from.
“Wait … are they charging you for the sourdough bread you made?!” inquired one follower. “I like their style!”
As it turns out, Fischer did too. “I’m dying laughing,” the actress wrote on Instagram. “They said ‘The New York Times is not always free, that’s just for Mother’s Day.’”
As one Instagram follower put it: “If that’s not the epitome of motherhood, I don’t know what is.”
