Kanye West is officially fearless. The rapper, whose erratic behavior over the past several months has caused some alarm within his inner circle, triumphantly declared that he “overcome fear” in an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, October 2.

The post was meant to mark a happy occasion, as West, 41, was celebrating the news that his father, Ray West, is now in remission from prostate cancer. “My dad and I are going to eat this plate of bugs to celebrate him beating cancer,” the “I Love It” singer wrote. “No more fear.”

Though the rapper who now wants to be known as Ye didn’t specify what kind of bugs he and his pops were about to chow down on, the photo accompanying West’s courageous caption shows a plate of what appears to be sautéed crickets.

“Idk how a plate of bugs is gonna celebrate it but you do you,” one social media user wrote.

Another noted that while eating bugs is typically a foreign concept for Americans, it’s something that’s widely embraced and accepted in other cultures: “They eat these in Thailand.”

The Grammy winner’s bold declaration that he is now without fear comes after a tumultuous weekend for the Chicago native. During his appearance on Saturday Night Live on Saturday, September 29, West, who was sporting a “Make America Great Again” hat as he closed out the show, delivered a speech in support of President Donald Trump.

The following day, West tweeted that the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery, should be repealed. He later clarified that he just wanted to “amend” the 1865 law.

West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, has stuck by her husband throughout his latest controversies, and according to a source “accepts” that her spouse “knows what he’s doing and what’s good for his career” despite backlash.
