Three cheers for free food! Shake Shack has decided to show appreciation for its fans by offering customers a free burger from Wednesday, December 26, through Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

The promotion, which is the perfect way to ring in 2019, can be easily unlocked by placing an order valued at $10 (or more) and entering the code THANKYOU18 at checkout. However, in order to receive the free burger, orders must be placed via the Shake Shack app or order.shakeshack.com.

Though no reason was given for this burger bonanza, giving away food for free isn’t exactly unheard of for Shake Shack. The chain, which boasts celebrity fans such as Chrissy Teigen and Hailey Baldwin, previously gave customers free fries on Election Day and handed out burgers at no charge at select locations in honor of National Cheeseburger Day on September 18.

The practice, though perhaps not the most economical, seems to align with founder Danny Meyer’s belief that restaurants need to be constantly innovative in order to entice customers. “I think restaurants have to do more than ever to keep people’s attention,” the restaurateur told Us Weekly in August. “We’re so glued to our telephones that I think chefs are experimenting with more flavors and more visually appealing dishes than ever, so that if you’re going to be on your phone, we’re going to make you take a picture of it and tell all of your friends how good it is.”

In addition to the free food here and there, Food & Wine reports Shake Shack may soon begin experimenting with adding delivery-specific menu items, as well as “off-premise packaging,” but there are still several kinks that need to be worked out.

“We do not want at any point in time to risk the quality of the experience we provide,” company CFO Tara Comonte said at an investor conference in December, according to Restaurant Business. “Shake Shack was born out of a fine-dining company. The delivery of our food does not necessarily fit with a great experience. Burgers and fries and shakes were not intended to be eaten a half-hour after they were cooked.”
