Spain appeared to do some swift handiwork to cut President Donald Trump out of their celebration photo after winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Trump, 80, is nowhere to be seen in the picture shared by the team via social media on Sunday, July 19, shortly after Spain emerged victorious over Argentina.
“🙌🏆 DREAMS DO COME TRUE,” the team wrote alongside the image.
Media company MeidasTouch noticed Trump’s absence, writing via X, “Spain edited Trump out of its celebratory photo.”
Trump helped present the World Cup trophy to Spain after the match, appearing on stage with FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
An Australian broadcaster was clairvoyant about Trump potentially disappearing from the eventual championship photo. “They’re gonna edit him out of that,” the broadcaster said in the viral clip.
Spain seemingly erasing Trump from their championship moment drew plenty of reaction on social media.
“I hope he sees that,” one person commented “It’ll make him blow a gasket.”
Another wrote, “We all knew they would edit out the clout chaser! 😂”
In a separate viral moment from the celebration, Argentina player Cristian Romero was accused of snubbing Trump while being presented with his silver medal after the game.
Romero, 28, did not shake Trump’s hand in the procession line, but did stop to shake hands with Infantino, 56, and Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, who both flanked Trump.
Before the game, Trump was loudly booed when shown on the big screens inside East Rutherford, New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium after Jennifer Hudson’s performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The president watched the game from a suite, alongside Infantino and First Lady Melania Trump.
In an interview with Fox Sports reporter Jenny Taft prior to the Spain-Argentina showdown, Trump claimed the tournament helped bolster the “Golden Age of America.”
“The World Cup has really helped, it’s been tremendous,” he said. “It’s gotten the word out and nobody thought it was possible. I hear numbers, it’s many times what’s ever been done before. So, that’s great.”
Trump was asked to predict the outcome of the World Cup Final, noting that Argentina president Javier Milei is “a friend of mine.”
“I would say that it’s hard to bet against [Argentina’s Lionel] Messi,” Trump said.
He added, “I won’t pick sides, I just think it’s very hard to bet against Messi. He’s great.”
Messi, 39, and Argentina, of course, came up short against Spain, losing 1-0 and failing to manage a single shot on goal during 120 minutes of game play.
