Olympic long jumper Tara Davis-Woodhall has found her perfect match in Paralympian Hunter Woodhall.
Hunter, 27, won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics in the men’s 400 meter T62 despite having both of his legs amputated when he was just 11 months old. According to Tara, 27, his missing limbs only add to her husband’s allure.
“I hate feet,” she said in a video shared by the Overtime women’s basketball Instagram account on Tuesday, September 8. “That’s why I have the best thing possible. My life’s great.”
Hunter reacted in the comments as well, writing, “What a headline 😂😂.”
Hunter and Tara met in 2017 and married in 2022. Tara reflected on the early days of their relationship in a conversation with Us in 2024.
“When we were boyfriend and girlfriend, no one would look our way as if we were in a relationship,” she said. “We wouldn’t be taken seriously. Our thoughts and ideas weren’t real because we were dating.”
Hunter agreed, adding that the perception from the outside world didn’t change until they got married.
“It was like two individuals who were doing things in parallel,” he said. “When we got married, people took us very seriously. Now it’s not Tara and Hunter, it’s the Woodhalls. It’s a team. We’re doing this together.”
He added that their own perception on the relationship changed as well.
“Once we got married, it was a commitment to, ‘Yo, this is Team Woodhall,’” Hunter explained. “Obviously before, we had that empathy and care for each other. But once we got married, it just took off. We have each other’s back 100 percent. We’re going to keep each other accountable. It was like both of us wanted to see the other succeed just as badly as we wanted to succeed ourselves.”
He continued, “It was so much more locked in. There’s so much more dedication and understanding for what the goal was and how we were going to get there.”
For Tara, the dedication to her craft is on a temporary hold. The Olympian announced on Monday, September 7, her season came to an abrupt end after being involved in a head-on car accident, keeping her out of the 2026 World Athletics Ultimate Championship.
“Did not think I’d be making this post,” she wrote via Instagram. “After careful consideration with my team, we have decided to end the 2026 season. This one hurts. I’m sad, disappointed and just hurt by all of it. I know this has to be part of my story. There has to be a reason for this. I’ll never [question] Gods path for me. I WILL BE BACK. Just a hitch in my giddy-up.”
