Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton took things in stride when he was questioned about always being around “white girls.”
“That don’t bother me,” Haliburton, 26, said with a laugh during an interview with rapper Cam’ron on the Monday, April 20, episode of his “Come and Talk 2 Me” podcast. “My fiancée, she’s a white girl.”
Haliburton got engaged to his fiancée, Jade Jones, in July 2025, after the pair met during their time together at Iowa State University, where Jones was on the cheerleading squad.
In addition to his relationship, Cam’ron referenced a recent video of Haliburton “hopping out of Sprinter vans” with a group of white women.
“I’m from Wisconsin, I grew up around all white people,” Haliburton explained. “My girl is from Iowa. She grew up around all white people, you know what I mean? That video where you see me hop out a car with a bunch of white girls? That’s like her sister and all her friends from growing up.”
He continued, “People are killing me, but I’m just like, ‘These are our people from growing up.’”
Haliburton proposed to Jones in July 2025, dropping to one knee inside Hilton Coliseum on Iowa State’s campus.
“The place where our story started, and where our next chapter begins ❤️💍,” the couple wrote in a joint Instagram post announcing their impending nuptials.
The engagement came roughly a month after Haliburton tore his right Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
After the injury, and the Pacers’ subsequent heartbreaking loss, Jones reflected on the season with a poignant post on social media.
“What a year!!! What a bittersweet ending to it all,” she shared via Instagram alongside a carousel of photos from throughout the season. “This team is SO special, beyond words. You have made a historic run for the Pacers that generations will be talking about!!! This season has made such a special imprint on my heart. One of the best things we have ever been a part of!!! Just know how much it meant to all of us.”
Jones continued, “The smile you have put on people’s faces, the joy & excitement you have brought to this city. You have been nothing short of amazing. You are so selfless, brave, and strong! We have the best support system around us who will pull you through this! I will always be your biggest cheerleader. I will forever be so proud of you!! Our team’s got you. We will be back, we’re not finished yet! Gods plan, Gods timing 💛 My superstar, I love you.”
Haliburton missed the entire 2025-2026 season with the injury, but he is hoping to be healthy when the Pacers return to action later in the fall.
