Children of the ’90s, rejoice! Along with platform sneakers, spaghetti straps, and halter necks, chokers are coming back into fashion after a two-decade hiatus. Case in point: Shay Mitchell‘s outfit at the Sunday, Oct. 25 MTV EMAs.
The Pretty Little Liars stunner, 28, was flawless in a plunging all-white Kayat gown accessorized with a white and gold choker necklace that matched her dress perfectly.
But Mitchell isn’t the only one putting her neck on the line. Kim Kardashian has sported the trend on more than one occasion, in statement-making gothic pieces and large, golden collars, like the one she wore to the Olivier Rousteing & Beats Celebrates event in L.A. on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Her sister Kourtney Kardashian coordinated in a corded gold Balmain ’90s-inspired accessory at the creative director’s birthday on the same day.
Making a little less of a statement in a thin design, Ashley Tisdale rocked a black and gold choker at Cosmopolitan magazine’s 50th Birthday on Oct. 12.
Nicole Richie sported the style in a thick gold band while attending the La Mer Celebration of an Icon event in Hollywood on Oct. 13.
Jessica Alba donned a similar design to Tisdale’s gold and black piece on Oct. 14 at Saks Fifth Avenue’s Harper’s Bazaar Models event.
Rihanna went ultra ’90s at her 8th Album Artwork Reveal on Oct. 7 in NYC. Rocking a dark lip, and with her hair in a half-up style with tiny buns, the “Disturbia” singer, 27, served major face in hoop earrings with her gothic-style black and silver choker by Neil Lane.
For a dose of bold color, Lily-Rose Depp wore a red piece of fabric tied around her neck like a choker to the Chanel Paris Fashion Week show on Oct. 6.
Janelle Monae showed off her edgy style with a double necklace set in hammered silver as she attended fashion week shows in Paris on Oct. 5.
Ciara caught our attention in another gold number, which she paired with another retro accessory — a gold arm band — at amfAR Milano in Italy on Sept. 26.
Rooney Mara presented Us with velvet version of the neck garment with a black design at the premiere of Pan in London on Sept. 20.
And Keke Palmer legit kicked it old school with a “tattoo” choker, complete with a pearl charm at the Teen Choice Awards on Aug. 16.
