Ashley Graham’s Nude ‘Maxim’ Cover Is Accused of Being Photoshopped

Ashley Graham is on a roll with her third cover of 2016, but her latest is causing a stir among her fans.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, 28, covers the April 2016 issue of Maxim draped in a button-up shirt alongside the cover line, “Natural Beauty Turned Brand Builder.” But after Graham shared the image via her Instagram page on Monday, March 28, more than one commenter expressed disappointment. “Definitely photo shopped,” the commenter wrote. “That is unfortunate after everything you stand for Ashley.. your curves are gorgeous and Maxim should not have minimize who you are…shame on them!” Click here to see her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover.

Another added, “A shame they photoshopped her to appear slimmer. They should have left her be. What’s the point of featuring a plus size model on the cover if they’re just going to make her look like the generic girls you see on their magazine.”

But French photographer Gilles Bensimon, who shot the photos for the issue, had a response to that. “I shoot this image of Ashley, and we don’t slimmer her at all!!!” he replied.

Despite the backlash, plenty of fans are supporting the TED Talk speaker, including one who wrote, “How did it feel to be on the cover of Maxim? I’m so happy you’re part of the movement and an advocate for beauty that comes in different sizes, shapes, and colors.”
