What the what?
Bar Refaeli posted a bizarre picture of herself getting a liquid gold facial on Tuesday, April 1 via Instagram. The Israeli supermodel, 28, is lying in a treatment room with a viscous golden liquid oozing over her face.
While she doesn't name the spa or identify the specific treatment, gold facials are thought to have anti-inflammatory and anti-acne benefits. The one-time love of Leonardo DiCaprio is in good company when it comes to the golden trend: Ellie Goulding and Cameron Diaz also have had gold facials. And the Queen of the Nile herself, Cleopatra, is rumored to have covered her face in pure gold every night to preserve her youthful skin in the first century B.C.
Refaeli is no stranger to extreme beauty treatments. In late December, she underwent a vampire facial, which involved injecting her own blood into her face to stimulate collagen production. Kim Kardashian had the pricey treatment (it can run upwards of $1000!) in March 2013. "I love trying anything that makes you look and feel youthful," the reality star said.
A day after posting the pic, Refaeli shared a steamy ad for fashion line Hoodies. The video, which shows the model in bed with a Muppet, has since been banned by Israel for "too many sexual insinuations," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
